Comment:
I am in the final stage of a K-1 Visa in Guangzhou, China.

My fiancee had her first interview November 17th. I have handled everything (with some limited legal advice) since first applying October of last year. We thought we were at the finish gate, until they demanded five more documents from me. All of which I can comply with except, [certain documentation]. This is not the most discouraging, the final demand sent was a five minute Videotape of me (American born and raised) speaking Mandarin fluently for five minutes, and writing it in clear view while taping and talking in Mandarin.

Ultimately, they have thrown in the biggest blockade possible. I am willing to learn this language and thought it natural to learn from my spouse once married and living together. This most likely came about because her English is very poor! I have things in place for her! Learning English upon her arrival, this is not a big issue. She has been studying English this past year but without anyone to speak with, she has accomplished little.

I sent a Video two weeks ago (in English explaining our relationship and future plans, most sincerely), along with all other requested documents. 3 day Express Airmail, as she urgently needed it to reapproach the Consulate (which is 300 miles from her home).

It has not shown up and I imagine Chinese Customs has confiscated it (Videotape) for inspection??? Needless to say I am totally frustrated (about to redo the tape and papers?), though I have no idea if my words will convince them of anything. I am deeply angered and at a loss for any kind words.

Our process and waiting time has been 13 months to get to this stage. I have consulted with local Government specialists in Michigan only to get a five minute lecture about all the fraudulent cases taking place.

Please advise here, or contact me by phone at work (day phone), with some estimate as to whether you can help, cost, and if you have dealt with this issue before. They are obviously trying to use the language barrier to dismiss our case. We have translators in place on both ends, as well as I have computer software, etc. etc. to manage communications once she is here and learning.

Anxious!!! Really fed up with our Consulate, and Government dealings I have had there and in the U.S. as well. What does an honest guy do?
